HARGEISA โ€“ The Ministry of National Planning and Development of the Republic of Somaliland held a large gathering in Hargeisa attended by the Minister, Director General, departmental directors and their deputies, heads of offices, and ministry staff to express the Ministryโ€™s support for the official visit of the President of the Republic of Somaliland and the countryโ€™s ongoing diplomatic efforts to advance its international recognition.

The Ministry emphasized that Somalilandโ€™s diplomatic efforts are important to advancing national interests, noting that government institutions have a role to play in strengthening national unity and coordination, as well as communicating accurate information about Somaliland and its development achievements.

The gathering was held under the theme, โ€œThe Somaliland Cause Has Reached the International Table.โ€ Discussions focused on the importance of ensuring that Somalilandโ€™s diplomatic, development, and international recognition efforts convey a coherent message reflecting the countryโ€™s national aspirations and interests.


Participants also discussed the significance of the Presidentโ€™s visit and his meetings with officials, political figures, and various institutions as part of Somalilandโ€™s efforts to strengthen international relations and pursue broader international recognition.


The Somaliland Ministry of Foreign Affairs has previously stated that the Presidentโ€™s meetings in Washington focused on Somalilandโ€™s international recognition, strategic cooperation, regional security, and opportunities for economic partnership.


Several Ministry officials also addressed the gathering, highlighting the importance of planning, reliable data, and coordination in development efforts, as well as the role of government institutions in communicating the countryโ€™s development achievements and institutional performance.

The Director General of the Ministry of National Planning and Development, Mohamed Said Mahmoud, emphasized the importance of government institutions having coordinated, data-driven plans and working collectively to advance national development priorities.


In his closing remarks, the Minister of National Planning and Development reaffirmed the Ministryโ€™s commitment to continuing its role in national planning and development, with particular emphasis on data, development plans, and official documentation that can contribute to communicating Somalilandโ€™s development realities.


The Minister also underscored the importance of presenting the countryโ€™s development progress, government achievements, and development plans through accurate and systematically organized information, enabling the public and international partners to gain a fact-based understanding of Somalilandโ€™s progress and development efforts.
