The Director General of the Somaliland Ministry of Agriculture Development, Mr. Abdirisaq Ahmed Gaas, accompanied by senior officials from the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF) and the Ambassador of Denmark, paid a working visit to farmers and agricultural cooperatives in parts of the Sanaag Region.
The visit was conducted in connection with the CSAโSDF 3 Project, which the Ministry of Agriculture Development is set to implement in Sanaag. The project focuses on increasing agricultural productivity and introducing climate-resilient agricultural production systems, with funding provided through the Somaliland Development Fund (SDF).
The main objective of the visit was to enable the Danish Ambassador and SDF officials to directly observe the communities and agricultural sites where the project will be implemented, while gaining a better understanding of farmersโ current production conditions, needs, and the challenges they face as a result of climate change.
During the visit, the delegation met with farmers and agricultural cooperatives in Sanaag, who briefed them on the condition of their farms, existing production methods, progress achieved, and the challenges affecting their agricultural activities. The delegation also inspected sites where the project is expected to implement activities aimed at strengthening **climate resilience and agricultural productivity.
The Director General emphasized the importance of the project in modernizing agriculture, increasing agricultural production, and strengthening farmersโ capacity to adapt to climate change. He also expressed appreciation to the Somaliland Development Fund and the Government of Denmark for their continued support toward the development of Somalilandโs agricultural sector.
The Director General was accompanied on the visit by the Director of the Planning Department, Mr. Mohamed Sahal Iidle, officials from the Ministry of Agriculture Development, SDF representatives, and officials from the Government of Denmark.
