HARGEISA, Somaliland |The Chairman of the Somaliland Civil Service Commission (CSC), Mr. Cabdicasiis Xirsi Warsame, accompanied by the Deputy Chairman, the Director General, and several departmental directors, today received a high-level delegation from the United Kingdom Government Office in Hargeisa
The UK delegation included Tatiana Fernandes,Development Adviser and Deputy Head of the UK Office, and Mr. Chris Pycroft, Development Director at the UK's Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO)
During the meeting, senior officials of the Somaliland Civil Service Commission provided the delegation with a comprehensive briefing on the Commission's ongoing activities, strategic priorities, institutional development plans, and the significant progress achieved in recent years.
The Commission also highlighted key public sector reform initiatives, including improvements to civil service management, efforts to strengthen human resource information systems, capacity-building programs for government employees, and measures aimed at modernizing and enhancing the efficiency, transparency, and effectiveness of public service delivery across government institutions.
Chairman Cabdicasiis Xirsi Warsame reaffirmed the Commission's commitment to advancing civil service reform and implementing development initiatives designed to build a professional, accountable, and efficient public administration. He expressed his appreciation to the UK delegation for their visit, noting that the meeting provided a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences on strengthening public sector governance.
For their part, the UK officials welcomed the Commission's presentation and strategic vision, commending Somaliland's ongoing efforts to modernize the civil service and improve the effectiveness of government institutions.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to continue dialogue and strengthen cooperation through the exchange of expertise in areas of mutual interest.
Following the discussions, the Commission's senior leadership and the UK delegation also visited the Somaliland Civil Service Institute, where the institute's management briefed them on its training programs, professional development initiatives, and long-term plans to enhance the skills and capacity of Somaliland's civil servants.
